Confront yourself with all the clutter you have. Get everything out of your kitchen cabinets and drawers. This includes pots, pans, utensils, plates, bowls and even food supplies. Put everything in one place so you have an overview. When you see what you all have, you are more likely to start cleaning up and it becomes easier to part with things.
Once you have everything in one place put similar items together. This not only helps identify duplicates, but it also makes organizing and retrieving items easier.
Marie Kondo recommends keeping only the items you really need. If you have many of the same types of items, such as multiple cutting boards or spatulas, consider reducing duplicates.
Once you've emptied all the cupboards, you can easily clean them right away, too.
