    That Italy has many famous designers is no secret. Milanese Alessandro Mendini is one of them! Mendini has played a major role in the development of Italian design. In 1979, he began working for studio Alchimia, where he collaborated with other big names such as Ettore Sottsass and Michele de Lucchi. Here he worked until he founded the design studio Atelier Mendini with his brother Francesco in 1988.

    Mendini also did his bit in the field of architecture in the Netherlands. For example, he designed the new building of the Groninger Museum, which was festively opened in 1994 by the then Queen Beatrix. He also helped design the Paradise Tower in Hiroshima and the Ceramics Museum in Incheon, among other buildings.

    Mendini has additionally collaborated with the Italian company Alessi. Among other things, he designed beautiful percolators and corkscrews for .
