A wooden Cutting board can lose its natural color and shine through frequent use. This can be treated with wood oil, such as the maintenance oil from Blackwell from our webshop. Lubricate the board once a week with this maintenance oil. Drip some oil on the board, spread it out with kitchen paper or a cloth and let the board absorb the oil. Repeat this process until the board no longer absorbs any more oil. The wood is now saturated and sufficiently nourished again. This is how you get the natural color and luster back and ensure longer life!
For a deeper cleaning or if you want to clean the Cutting board used for cutting meat, fish or poultry, it is important to disinfect the board as well. Mix a solution of one part white vinegar and four parts water, and wipe the board with this. Vinegar is a natural disinfectant that helps kill bacteria without damaging the wood. Let the solution soak for a few minutes, then rinse the shelf with warm water. Dry the Cutting board immediately with a clean cloth to prevent the wood from absorbing water and warping.
