For the hobbyist and professional chef, the Wusthof bread knife is indispensable. This knife is ideal for cutting bread, but can also be used to cut a cake. This knife stands out with its handle made of Calabria olive wood. The wood grows slowly, but it lasts extremely long. It is water repellent and antibacterial, making the knife safe to use. The wood comes from old olive trees that hardly produce any olives anymore. Each knife is identical because of the wood.
The knife is formed from a single piece of Wusthof steel hardened to 58 Rockwell. The blade is made of stainless steel and is handcrafted by the experienced knife makers of Wusthof. The blade is 23 centimeters long. This knife has double serrations, which keeps the knife sharp for a long period of time. Breads with a hard crust are not crushed with this knife, but breads with soft crusts can also be easily sliced. The knife can be washed after use.
Wüsthof is the company that is still in family hands after 200 years. The brand has specialised in knives since 1814. The family business has been based in Solingen since the early years and now has several locations where the craftsmanship is carried out.
