Ever since I first made my own falafel almost two years ago, I have absolutely loved it. It's simple and healthy, but unfortunately falafel is often not gluten-free if you eat out. Bummer! Also, you don't have to deep fry falafel, as is often done. You can prepare this falafel just fine in the pan or in the Airfryer. And since you get tired of wraps or pappadums after a while, or just want to eat more vegetables, this gluten-free falafel salad is a real winner. We eat it here quite regularly and now I've finally worked out the recipe. Yesss!

Falafel salad

I think this is such a great recipe if you don't want to eat too heavy, but also don't crave an overly light meal salad. This salad is filling and vegetarian.

Ingredients

  • Falafel for 2 persons
  • 300 grams of mixed lettuce
  • 3 tomatoes
  • half a cucumber
  • 4 tablespoons cottage cheese or vegetable yogurt
  • juice of half a lemon
  • 1 - 2 teaspoons sambal (sugar free)
  • small tablespoon of water
  • 2 teaspoons cumin powder

Falafel salad

    How do you make a falafel salad?

    1. Make the falafels according to recipe via the link (or get ready-made) and fry crispy in the pan or Airfryer.
    2. Mix the cottage cheese with sambal, lemon juice,water and cumin powder to make a dressing.
    3. Dice the tomatoes and cucumber.
    4. Put quite a bit of lettuce on your plate and divide the tomato and cucumber on top. On top goes the falafel and garnish with yogurt-cumin dressing.
    5. Super simple! Enjoy your meal!

I think this is such a delicious recipe if you don't want to eat too heavy, but also don't feel like a light meal salad. It may be a vegetarian evening meal, believe me; You are full if you have finished this. I seem to be a big eater, so maybe you are already full if you don't get it yet ;-). In any case, it is incredibly tasty. The BF also loves it and that is a good sign, I think.
