Ingredients

  • 1 whole chicken
  • 1 can of beer (330 ml, pilsner or blond ale works well)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2–3 tablespoons spice mix
  • Optional: extra herbs or lemon/lime for the beer can

    With the GrillX BBQ Beer Can Chicken Holder you can prepare super juicy and tasty chicken - a real eye-catcher on the BBQ!

    Spice mix (BBQ-style)Mix in a bowl:

    • 2 teaspoons paprika powder1 teaspoon smoked paprika powder
    • 1 teaspoon garlic powder1 teaspoon onion powder
    • 1 teaspoon thyme (dried)1 teaspoon oregano
    • 1 teaspoon salt
    • ½ teaspoon black pepper
    • ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
    • 1 teaspoon brown sugar (for a slightly sweet BBQ flavour)

    How to make it:Preparation:

    Pat the chicken dry and rub with olive oil.

    Massage the spice mix over the entire chicken (also under the skin where possible).

    Prepare the beer can:Open the can and pour away half of the beer.

    If desired, add some of the herbs or a slice of lemon to the can.

    Place the can in the GrillX holder.Place the chicken: Carefully slide the chicken over the can so that it sits upright.

    On the BBQ (indirect heat):Heat the BBQ to 180–200°C.

    Place the chicken with holder on the grill, close the lid.Cook in ±75–90 minutes (core temperature of 75°C in the thickest part of the thigh).

    Let rest: Carefully remove the chicken from the can and let rest for 10 minutes. Carve and serve!

    Tip from GrillX: For extra flavour, you can put a few fresh herbs or garlic cloves in the beer can.
