Recipes Vegetarian Dessert Snack

As soon as I spotted the idea for vegetarian sausage rolls on Kelly Caresse, I wondered why I hadn't thought of it before. Sausage rolls are SUPER tasty and you can even get vegetarian sausage rolls at some supermarkets now. But I never knew it was so easy to make your own sausage rolls. And then you don't have to buy them ready-made at all!

Recipe

Vegetarian sausage rolls

You can hardly taste the difference! They are almost as tasty as with real meat. Can also be made in gluten-free version.

Preparation time

Preparation time 10 min
Time in oven 15 min
Total 30 min

Equipment

  • Mixing bowl
  • Frying pan
  • Serving dishes

Ingredients

  • 250 grams of vegetarian minced meat
  • 1 egg
  • 6 slices of puff pastry
  • 2 teaspoons sambal
  • fresh herbs, e.g. chives, rosemary and parsley
  • salt and pepper

How to make vegetarian sausage rolls?

    1. Let the puff pastry slices thaw a little.
    2. Finely chop the fresh herbs. Mix this with the minced meat and about 2/3 of the beaten egg. Put the sambal through it and season with salt and pepper.
    3. Place a slice of puff pastry in front of you. You now empty a roll of minced meat over the length of the slice. Make sure you don't get over half the width of the slice.
    4. Now fold the puff pastry slice and press the edges well. Repeat and then press the edges with a fork.
    5. Bake for about 15 minutes so that the sausage rolls are nicely golden brown.

I have now made the sausage rolls with "normal" puff pastry, but you can of course use gluten -free puff pastry. The rest of the recipe is also gluten -free, so by using gluten -free puff pastry you have gluten -free and vegetarian sausage rolls!

My friend took a few bites from this sausage roll and only said "wow, fat nice", so I was already laughing. And then: "But with vegetarian minced meat, or not?" Haaaa, too bad! He said he tasted that it wasn't real meat, but that they really tasted like sausage rolls!
