It was an idea that I think had been in his head for almost a year: Chris wanted to make a sushi burger. And by burger, he then meant that the "rolls" were made of rice, with a sushi filling in between. I thought it was a great plan! Because anything with sushi is delicious, right?

Equipment

  • Cooking Pot
  • Flat dinner plates
  • bowl
  • Baking rings

Ingredients

  • 200 grams of pandan rice
  • 200 grams fresh salmon
  • 1 avocado
  • about 8 surimi sticks (optional)
  • 2 nori sheets
  • generous splash of (gluten-free) soy sauce
  • few slices of cucumber
  • teaspoon wasabi
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • Handful of wakame

Prepare

    Kook the pandan rice.

Meanwhile, dice the salmon and surimi, slice the cucumber, slice the avocado.

Make a dressing from the mayonnaise and wasabi. Dilute with a small amount of water.

When the rice is ready, put it in a baking ring. Press well and then remove the rice from the baking ring. Put some soy sauce on top.

Cut 4 nori sheets the size of the baking ring and place them on top of the rice. Now top with salmon, surimi, cucumber, wakame and avocado and put some dressing on top.

Now make the second rice "burger. Place this one on top of the filling. Repeat until you have 4 burgers.

When I shared a photo of the Sushi Burgers on Instagram, I got serious private messages for the recipe. Good sign, I thought. Haha! Of course it always takes a while before I can work out the recipe, so I always try to have a few recipes "in the pile". I like cooking and blogging super fun, but if you necessarily have to make a recipe, it soon feels like a must. And it should all remain fun, I think: D!

What do you like this sushi burger? I will be very honest: it is quite difficult to eat. Do not expect that you can work it as a whole away, because as soon as you start eating, the burger will fall apart. That's why you can eat it well with a knife and fork. But that shouldn't spoil the fun! The flavors are super. It is really very, very tasty! And also nice for a variety, right?
