Recipes Vegan Gluten-free Valentine's Day

When trying to cut out as many (refined) sugars from your diet as possible, there are quite a few things that stand out at first glance. A major one of these, for many, is chocolate. It usually contains a lot of white or crystal sugar and these are not good for you. We went looking for chocolate with the least unprocessed sugars and came to chocolate with coconut blossom sugar.

Recipe

Preparation time

Preparation time 40 min
Cooling time 1 hr
Total 1 h 40 min

Ingredients

  • 100gr dark chocolate: I use Vivani 92% cacao
  • 5 dried figs, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 40ml coconut milk
  • 20gr coconut flakes
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 20gr hazelnuts, in pieces

Chocolate bonbons

    1. First melt the chocolate au-bain-marie. When it is melted, put a layer of chocolate in the molds, this becomes the bottom of the bonbon. Put this in the fridge until it has become hard.
    2. Then make all three fillings. Finely chop the figs, add the lemon juice and vanilla extract. Always press with a spoon until it becomes a mixture.
    3. Put the coconut milk with coconut grater in a pan and bring the kook. Then add the vanilla extract and remove from the heat.
    4. Chop the hazelnuts small.
    5. Remove the molds from the refrigerator and now put a little filling in each of the chocolate bottoms. Try to do this as much as possible in the middle and keep the edges free, otherwise the bonbon will not become one whole (see our bonbons;))
    6. Put back in the fridge and let it harden. Enjoy your sugar -free bonbons!

We come back to the coconut flower sugar. This sugar comes from the nectar of coconut flowers and is almost unprocessed. It is dark brown in color and has a light caramel flavor, which is very tasty. Coconut blossom sugar will never make so sweet as granulated sugar, but this is not necessary.

Our favorite is the bonbon with fig filling, especially because the sweet thing about the fig and the fresh ones of the lemon nicely combines with the pure chocolate. The bonbon with coconut filling looks a lot like a very pure bounty! Very tasty. The bonbon with hazelnuts is actually the simplest of the three, but no less tasty. Enjoy your chocolate bonbons!
