I wrote earlier that sometimes it can be quite difficult to find a healthy snack that you can also easily make and take with you. The recipe to make your own energy bars from coconut and chia seeds which I posted with that, has become incredibly popular. Surely that shows how many people are looking for a healthier alternative to snacks or snacks available in the supermarket. Hence again this new recipe for healthy snacks -Sugar Free Chocolate Energy Bar.

Preparation time

Preparation time 10 min
Cooling time 30 min
Total 40 min

Ingredients

  • 100gr (Medjool) dates, pitted
  • 20gr hazelnuts
  • 20gr almonds (plain or skinned)
  • 3 tbsp organic cocoa powder (about 25g)

Sugar-free chocolate energy bar

    1. Pit the dates and chop every date into 4 pieces (to give your food processor a little lighter work)
    2. First put the nuts in the food processor and grind. Then add the dates and the cocoa powder and let it grind until you have a nice mixture.
    3. Pour the whole into a (square) baking tin or low container, covered with baking paper. Press well and make sure the edges are straight; This way, most energy bars become nicely rectangular.
    4. Let it harden in the fridge for 30 minutes and then cut into pieces or bars. Save in aluminum foil, the bars will remain good for at least 4 days. Enjoy it!
