Granola is still totally hot in the world of foodies, which is why we are sharing this recipe again! And fair is fair; making your own granola is really much tastier because you can put it together completely to your own taste. Don't like nuts? Then add some dried fruit, like raisins or goji berries. (TIP: do this after the granola has been in the oven, otherwise the fruit will burn). With this basic granola recipe, which is gluten-free and sugar-free (free of refined sugars), you can vary as you like and give it your own twist.

Granola, gluten-free and sugar-free

How to make gluten- and sugar-free granola?

Preheat the oven to 180 degrees.

Roughly chop the walnuts and pecans.

Put all ingredients except the coconut oil and maple syrup, if desired, in a large bowl and mix together. Melt the coconut oil and scoop it into the granola mixture. Now add the maple syrup as well and mix well.

Line a Baking tray with baking paper and spread the mixture over the entire Baking tray.

Bake for 20-22 minutes until nicely golden brown. Let the mixture cool really well and then spoon it into an airtight jar or container. You can easily eat it for two weeks; it stays nice and crunchy!

Extra tips

You can eat the granola with (vegetable) yogurt or (vegetable) milk. Add fresh fruit for a healthy and fresh twist, or a (warm) fruit compote for that delicious fruity taste throughout your entire bowl. Granola also works well as a topping for an acaïbowl or smoothie bowl. Granola also gives a fresh crispy bite on top of the oatmeal pap. To start your day or to close it, you can always use it. But eating while making the granola? Don't skip that!

Save granola

This granola remains really mega crispy. Even after three weeks it still has the same bite as on day one! Note: It is important that you pack the granola well if you save it. A preserving jar or an airtight pot is ideal for this! Make sure the pot is airtight and keep it in a dark, cool place. You can keep the granola 1 to 2 months. Don't have a Weckpot? Then use a bag and make it airtight by using a clip.
