Sometimes people forget how sweet fruit is by itself. For example, in the supermarket you have to look hard to find sugar-free applesauce, while I then wonder why sugar is added to the "standard" applesauce. Really, apples are already sweet enough; there is no need to add sugar to make a tasty applesauce. Last Christmas my mom made this sugar-free apple-mango compote and because it is so delicious, I am happy to share the recipe. Super simple to make, incredibly delicious and because you don't add any sugars or other ingredients, deliciously pure. A real treat!

Apple-mango compote

Tuck two tablespoons of compote into your cottage cheese, eat it for dessert or use it as a side dish!

Ingredients

  • 700 grams of apple, peeled into pieces
  • 1 ripe mango, in pieces
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 teaspoon ground cardamom
  • 100 ml pure apple juice
  • 1 cinnamon stick

Apple-mango compote

    1. Spoon the Mango cubes with the apple pieces in a pan with the apple juice, ginger and cardamom. Let it boil for 15 minutes with the cinnamon stick to a coarse sauce and let cool.
    2. If necessary, grind the cinnamon stick and add again, or stir a teaspoon of ground cinnamon through the compote.
    3. Enjoy your meal!
