The 9091 whistling kettle features a melodic brass whistle in a mould which has never been seen before and consisting of two small openings in which are placed the tuning mechanisms representing the notes mi and si.

Richard Sapper created this kettle inspired by a childhood memory, the poetic sound of boat sirens on the Rhine: in fact, the melody that accompanies the vapor release should be pleasant and not anxious like the whistle of boilers. This induction boiler is a polysensory object that interrupts a pleasant pause not with a whistle, but with a catchy melody.
