Richard Sapper
Richard Sapper was a German industrial designer. In 1932, he was born in the city of Munich. After also studying mechanical engineering here, Sapper began working in the design department of Mercedes-Benz in 1956.
Two years later, he was ready for a new challenge. At the age of 26, Sapper moved to one of the most beautiful cities in Italy; Milan! Here he worked at various studios, until he started working as then designer in the interior design department of the Italian department store La Rinascente. Together with the designer Marco Zanuso, he started his own agency.
He also started his own design studio in Stuttgart in 1970.
At the well-known Alessi Sapper was appointed a designer in 1977. He created designs that have become very well known. For example, the 9090 percolator he designed has become historic, and is on permanent display at MoMA. In addition, he also devised the amazingAlessi La Cintura Di OrioneCookware setfor Alessi.
