How much water you need in a rice cooker depends very much on the rice you are cooking and how you like your rice. There are many different kinds of rice and each one needs a different amount of water. Here is a handy overview so you quickly know what is best

  • White rice: small grain - 1 cup of rice to ¼ cup of water
  • White rice: medium grain - 1 cup of rice to 1 ½ cups of water
  • White rice: long grain - 1 cup rice to 1 ¾ cup water
  • Indian rice varieties: 1 cup rice to ½ cup water
  • Silver rice: 1 cup of rice to 2 cups of water

These numbers are recommended, you can also test for yourself whether you find a little more or a little less tastier. If you use a little less water, the grain of rice will remain a bit harder and dryer, when you use more water it becomes softer.
