Equipment

  • Blender
  • Freezer container or shallow dish
  • Baking sheet
  • Parchment paper
  • Measuring cup
  • Cocktail glasses

Ingredients

  • 750 ml dry rosé
  • 500 g fresh watermelon (without rind)
  • 3 tbsp lemon juice (freshly squeezed)
  • 2 tbsp liquid honey
  • pinch of salt
  • fresh mint or a slice of watermelon for garnish

How to make a watermelon frosé?

    1. Pour the rosé into a large shallow dish or freezer container and freeze it for at least 6 hours (or overnight) until it's frozen but still scoopable.
    2. Cut the watermelon into cubes, remove the seeds and freeze them separately on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. About 2 hours is enough.
    3. Put the frozen watermelon cubes in the blender with the lemon juice, the liquid honey and a pinch of salt. Blend until smooth.
    4. Scoop the frozen rosé into chunks and add to the blender. Blend briefly until everything is combined but still thick and icy in texture.
    5. Taste and add extra lemon juice or honey as desired.
    6. Divide the frosé among chilled glasses. Garnish with a thin slice of watermelon or a sprig of fresh mint and serve immediately.

The watermelon frosé is perfect for a summery garden party or a relaxed evening with friends. Make a large batch, put the blender on the table and let everyone serve themselves. That way enjoying together becomes much easier. Tip: prefer it alcohol-free? Replace the rosé with chilled pink grape juice or hibiscus tea.

A beautiful cocktail deserves a beautiful glass. Choose sturdy, clear glasses where the pink color of the frosé really stands out. That way you turn a simple drink into a moment to savor. Because that's exactly what summer should be.
