With three generations of research, development, and experience creating functional, varietal-specific glassware, Georg and Maximilian Riedel challenged themselves to improve upon what had gone before. The result is Performance—a technologically advanced and user-friendly collection of wine glasses for specific varietals.

Performance is the first Riedel wine glass series ever to feature bowls with a light-optic effect. Detailed research by the Riedel family, aimed at improving the drinking experience, revealed that increasing the glass's internal surface area positively impacted the perception of the wine's bouquet and flavor. This was achieved through a unique optical effect, a scalloped edge, which not only adds an attractive visual touch to the bowl but also increases the internal surface area. This enlarged surface area allows the wine to open and reveal all its aromas and nuances.
