Recipes Lunch Wheat-free Gluten Free Main course

A pizza with a tortilla base. So apparently that has a name: tortizza. I find it comical. Besides the fact that it sounds funny, I was curious about the taste. So I went right to work on a recipe. One for a gluten-free tortizza that is, but of course you can use any type of tortilla.

Preparation time

Preparation time 10 min
Time in oven 20 min
Total 30 min

Ingredients

  • 2 (gluten-free) tortillas or wraps
  • 1 pack passata di pomodoro
  • 1 red onion
  • 1/2 zucchini
  • 60 grams of feta cheese
  • 2 teaspoons oregano
  • 2 teaspoons basil herbs or some fresh basil
  • 2 handfuls of arugula
  • optional: half a ball of mozzarella

Tortilla pizza

    1. Mix the oregano and basil herbs through the passata, along with some pepper and salt.
    2. Cut the zucchini into thin slices, just like the mozzarella and onion.
    3. Cover every tortilla with a good layer of passata, over it slices of zucchini, onion, mozzarella and feta.
    4. Bake nicely golden brown in about 16-20 minutes.
    5. Remove the tortizza from the oven and divide the arugula over it. Enjoy your meal!

Through a fellow blogger I came into contact with a tortizza for the first time. She probably didn't come up with the concept herself, but I liked the idea so much that I wanted to make it too. You can also vary endlessly with this recipe, because you just invest it just like a normal pizza. Do you like Salami? Then you use that. I am more a fan of the variant with a lot of feta, homemade tomato sauce and arugula.

For two people, this recipe may be just a little too little, but I am generally a fairly large eater. Maybe you think it's more than enough and you shouldn't think that you eat two wraps on your own. So take a look at what you think is enough. What is also nice: it is super easy and fast to make. You don't have to make a pizza dough. Put it in the oven for ten minutes and ready!
