Strawberry milkshake

    Recipe explained

    1. Prepare the strawberries
Rinse the strawberries well under cold water. Then remove the green tops with a small knife. If any strawberries are large, cut them in half so they blend more easily.

    What to look out for?
Use ripe strawberries for the sweetest flavor.
Are the strawberries a bit tart? Then add extra sugar or honey.
Pat wet strawberries dry so the milkshake doesn't become watery.

    2. Put everything in the blender
Put the strawberries in the blender together with the milk and the vanilla ice cream.

    Tip:
Want an extra cold milkshake? Use:
frozen strawberries or extra ice cubes

    3. Blend
Blend everything for about 1 minute until the milkshake is completely smooth and creamy.

    What to watch for?
Don't blend for too short a time, otherwise pieces of strawberry will remain.
Don't blend for too long either, as the milkshake will become thinner.
Is the milkshake too thick? Add a little extra milk.
Too thin? Add extra ice cream or strawberries.

    4. Taste and serve
Taste the milkshake. Not sweet enough? Add:
    1 tablespoon sugar
    honey or vanilla sugar.

Then pour the milkshake into two large glasses.

    5. Garnish
Make the strawberry milkshake extra festive with:

    whipped cream
    fresh strawberries
    chocolate shavings
a cookie on the rim of the glass
    a cheerful straw

Serve immediately, because a fresh milkshake tastes best when it's very cold.

Extra tips

  • For a healthier version, you can use yogurt instead of ice cream.
  • Use plant-based milk like oat milk or almond milk for a lactose-free milkshake.
  • Add a banana for a fuller, creamier flavor.
  • Don't store the milkshake for too long; it's at its best when fresh.

This creamy strawberry milkshake is wonderfully fresh and very easy to make. With fresh strawberries, cold milk and vanilla ice cream you have a festive drink on the table in no time. Garnish with whipped cream and a fresh strawberry for an extra pretty result. Serve immediately for the best flavor.
