Equipment

  • Air fryer
  • 3 shallow bowls
  • Cutting board
  • Sharp knife
  • Brush or oil spray
  • Meat thermometer
  • Small mixing bowl

Ingredients

  • 500 g chicken breast
  • 60 g flour
  • 1 tsp paprika powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 100 g breadcrumbs
  • 30 g grated Parmesan
  • Olive oil (spray or brush)
  • For the dip:
  • 3 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 2 tbsp wholegrain mustard
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • A few drops lemon juice
  • Pinch of salt and pepper
  • Fresh parsley for garnish

How do you make crispy air fryer chicken nuggets?

    1. Cut the chicken breast into even pieces of about 3 by 3 centimetres.
    2. Prepare three bowls: one with flour (seasoned with salt, pepper and paprika powder), one with the beaten eggs and one with the breadcrumbs mixed with grated Parmesan.
    3. Coat each piece of chicken first in the flour, then in the egg and finally thoroughly in the breadcrumb mixture. Press the breadcrumbs firmly so they stick.
    4. Preheat the air fryer to 200°C for 3 minutes.
    5. Place the nuggets in a single layer in the air fryer. Lightly spray them with olive oil from a spray bottle or brush them with a little oil. Cook them 10 minutes at 200°C.
    6. Turn the nuggets halfway through the cooking time so they become nicely golden brown and crispy on both sides.
    7. Meanwhile make the honey-mustard dip: mix the mayonnaise, mustard, honey and a few drops of lemon juice well. Season with a pinch of salt and pepper.
    8. Check that the chicken nuggets are cooked through (internal temperature at least 75°C). Serve immediately with the dip and a scatter of fresh parsley.

Want to vary? Add some smoked paprika or garlic powder to the breadcrumbs for an extra layer of flavor. You can also bread the nuggets in advance and keep them in the fridge for a few hours, then just cook them when needed. Handy if you're expecting guests.

A good air fryer makes recipes like this easy and consistent every time. Crispy on the outside, cooked and juicy on the inside, and your home smells wonderful without frying fumes. That's exactly why this appliance quickly earns a permanent place in the kitchen.
