Every now and then I suddenly crave a hamburger. Not that greasy, soggy, sticky McDonalds bite but a real, tasty, homemade hamburger.

Now the recipe I have for you here isn't exactly wholesome, since it's made with white bread and the burgers aren't homemade, but who cares, they're delicious!

Recipe

Delicious Greek burgers

These Greek burgers are quick to make and full of Mediterranean flavours. With tzatziki, feta and fresh vegetables, you have a meal that doesn't need any extra sauces.

Equipment

  • Frying pan

Ingredients

  • Lean beef burgers (preferably organic or at least without additives)
  • arugula or other lettuce
  • 1 red onion
  • kaiser rolls
  • a tub of (fresh) tzatziki
  • 2 tomatoes
  • a pack of feta cheese
  • oregano
  • salt & pepper

Delicious Greek burgers

Sprinkle some salt, pepper and oregano on both sides of the burgers and rub it in. Cut the rolls open and spread a layer of tzatziki and a little lettuce on them. Slice the onion into rings, the tomato into slices and the feta into cubes. Cook the burgers for about 8 minutes, adding the onion halfway through so it can fry a little too. Place the burgers on the rolls and finish them with some onion, tomato and finally the feta. Sauces unnecessary!

These Greek burgers are perfect for a weeknight dinner or a cozy BBQ. The combination of a seasoned burger, fresh tzatziki and salty feta makes for a delicious whole without the need for extra sauces.

Serve the burgers immediately after cooking for the best flavour experience. Kaiser rolls are ideal because of their sturdy structure, but you can also use other rolls you enjoy.
