Philippe Starck

On January 18, 1949, in the metropolis of Paris, the designer Phillipe Starck was born. Starck had studied design at the École Nissim de Camondo and then founded his first design agency in 1968. This firm specialized in inflatable objects. A year later, he became director of this company along with fashion designer Pierre Cardin.

Since 1975, Starck has worked for himself as an interior designer and industrial designer. He worked with companies such as Alessi, FSB and Aprilia. He has also left his mark in the Netherlands. For example, he designed one of the pavilions for the Groninger Museum in 1994 and the Motó 6.5 motorcycle for Aprilia in 1996. He would also help renovate the Waag in Amsterdam in the early 1990s. Unfortunately, the Centrum De Waag foundation went bankrupt before the renovation could be realized.
