Naoto Fukasawa
Japanese designer Naoto Fukasawa was born in 1956 in the city of Kōfu. At the age of 26, he graduated from Tama Art University in Tokyo. When Fukasawa completed his degree, he moved to the American city of San Francisco, 8,266 km away. Here he began working at IDEO, an international design and consulting firm. Later, he also helped set up IDEO in Tokyo.
In 2003, Fukasawa founded his own company; Naoto Fukasawa Design. He has worked with names such as B&B Italia, Artemide and Alessi. For example, he recently designed the cutlery collection Alessi Itsumo for Alessi. He has also been co-director of 21 21 DESIGN SIGHT, the first design museum in Japan, since 2012. He also currently teaches at Tama Art University.
