Italy's Laura Polinoro is the creative brain behind LPWK. She was born in Bergamo, a city forty kilometers northeast of Milan. At the University of Bologna, she received her degree in Arts and Communication. After Polinoro finished college, she trained as a researcher at the Domus Academy in Milan.
Polinoro's first job was as a costume designer in a dance theater. During her time at the theater, she was hired by Alberto Alessi and Alessandro Mendini asked to collaborate on the book 'Officina Alessi: Alberto Alessi and Alessandro Mendini - 10 years of Design'. Polinoro was both the curator and author of this.
Later, Polinoro became active as art director of Centro Studi Alessi, a studio where young designers were given the opportunity to further develop their talents. In the early 2000s, she put an end to this, but remained associated with Centro Studi. Alessi. Polinoro then started her own design studio, called LPWK Design Studio.
