Heikki Orvola
Heikki Orvola his a great Finnish designer. Orvola was born Nov. 29, 1943, in the Finnish capital Helsinki. After his studies, he went to work for the Finnish ceramics company Arabia. For this brand he designed several collections, including the successful Arabia 24h tableware set. Its sequel, the 24h Tuokio dinnerware set, was also a hit. For the brand Iittala in 1998, Orvola created the Iittala Kivi mood lights. The Finnish designer always worked with many different materials such as glass, cast iron, pottery and textiles.
Both nationally and internationally, Orvola has received much recognition for his work. For example, he won the Design Plus and the Kaj Franck Design Prize. In 2002, the Finnish president even awarded him an honorary doctorate for his life's work.
